This work began sometime in 1990 or 1991. I experienced the face of Christ in the suffering of people around the world. I could sense the suffering body, on the crossbeam of a tree limb, from the Tree of Life; the leaves are the virtues of faith, hope, and love, and the roots sprouting from under the branch, trail down through the rocky crevices to entangle Satan, in the form of a prowling lion.
The skeletons are not demons but are the evils born in the hearts of men. The Blessed Virgin Mary, and her child Jesus are seated above the earth on the right side of the cross. In her, the Holy Spirit "fullfills" the plan of the Father's loving goodness. (p191 Catachism of the Catholic Church)
On the left, the Lamb of God, triumphant, risen, Hope of the suffering, is a symbol of Jesus Christ which rises out of the Hebrew sacrifical system.
The other two persons of the Holy Trinity are at the top of the cross. The Father is a consuming fire of love, surrounding and embracing the Eucharistic gift of his son. A white dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit. He is surrounded by, and sent forth from, the creative power and light of the Father, the Creater of All.

ANAMNESIS
The purpose of this work is to help us visually recognize the love, mercy, and forgiveness of our Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The window, which opens up to the heavens, is in the form of a diamond, causing it to come forward toward us. It invites us to walk into the Kingdom of God.
The bar, at the bottom, is the cross-bar of a cross. It is there as a hand-hold to help us. The light of Christ flows over it, pouring down on us. Upon it rests a chalice formed from a rosary of roses. Every rose calls us to focus on a mystery of the life, death, and resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. The Body of Christ in the Holy Eucharist, along with his cross are placed within the chalice, emitting light to penetrate the darkness of our sorrows. We are thus called to contemplate the gift of salvation.
The Holy Spirit is in the form of a white dove descending toward the peoples of the earth, upon whom he showers his gifts and virtues.
The hands below are the hands of all humanity, reaching up to receive the graces, gifts, and blessings of God.

Our four children are now adults, and have children of their own. We now have six grandchildren, the youngest of which are twins. They keep us in touch with youth and the promise of life.
